Even, or especially on a rainy day, visiting one of the many gorges in the Jura mountain range is very worthwhile. Because there are hardly any sun rays that reach the ground, the weather really doesn't matter. Our favourite place is at the bottom of this 1200m long and 500m deep rock arena of Creux du Van: the Areuse gorge. Along the river vegetation of trees, rocks and plants is covered by moss. Combining it with a stay at the Hotel de la Truite where you can eat fantastic fresh trout and drink strong jurassic beer will give you a perfect weekend getaway.
