'Water Castle' of Switzerland

 

❤️ is our secret little spot, ‘cos it’s our home in Gebenstorf! From here we have a beautiful view of the Jura mountains and the Habsburg castle in the distance. Down in the valley, there is a castle of a different kind: the Wasserschloss (translation is ‘water castle’). Here is where the 3 large rivers Aare, Reuss and Limmat meet and connect together - these rivers gather water from 40% of Switzerland’s surface and hold 50% more water than the Rhine a few kilometres further north. There’s also a beautiful place at the Reuss just on the edge of the village center, where people can relax, enjoy a barbecue, play volleyball and swim safely in the summer. You can see the ‘Wasserschloss’ with the Jura mountains and Germany’s black forest in the background from a viewpoint called the Gebenstorfer Horn – only a short walk from our house.
