The wine capital

Sion is the capital of the Valais and it’s where one of the oldest traces of human settlements in Europe from 6200 BC was found. Today, the two rocky hills in the middle of the town offer a great photo opportunity from Mont d’Orge in the early morning. From the parking lot at the lake Aaron found a small path at the top of the vineyards where the sun was shining right at us. We stayed in Savièse, a tiny village just above Sion, in the most beautiful Boutique Hotel “La Grande Maison” – a perfect location with another fantastic view to the west of the Rhone valley.
